SELL THE MONKEY ART SALE !!

Sell the Monkey, a Memoir by Galen Garwood

Sell The Monkey is the culmination of a two and a half-year project. My goal is to get the book properly launched into the world.

In a few weeks, I’ll be setting loose a crowd-funding campaign, offering some delectable items including, of course, signed copies of the book, but I’m also—in advance—offering a remarkably generous –almost a give-away–discount on a selection of artworks (early and recent) by my hand and a few by others to help me begin this campaign. Let it begin.

Thank you. Galen

Sale Price: 400.00

One of the things that makes this drawing so rare is that while Lennie made thousands of drawings and paintings of nudes over the years, they were almost exlusively of women.  From Sell The Monkey, a Memoir:  “If one needs to categorize, I’d say Lennie is a Renaissance spirit, housed in a ‘School of Paris’ template, often mistaken for a Primitive, but in actuality a Naïve. However, I don’t believe Lennie could possibly ever fully fit any such definitions.
He loved the paintings of Masaccio, embraced the Expressionists, and was devoted to the Cubists. He cut his teeth on works by Matisse, Modigliani, and Kurt Schwitters. Lennie adored artists like David Smith, Joseph Cornell, and Bruce Conner, all of whom had been his friends. He also championed Outsider artists, such as his friend, Mr. Eddy. And that was just a tap into his visual world. When he veered into jazz, there was no end of Lennie in sight.”
